Depression and anxiety are common issues among health professionals, but for a variety of reasons, rarely talked about openly. Health professionals often get subtle – and sometimes even explicit – messages that mental health issues are a sign of weakness. This stigma, coupled with a harsh inner critic always pushing for perfection, means many health professionals are not getting treatment. The acute and, now chronic, strain of the pandemic have placed an incredible burden on doctors, nurses, all types of clinicians and frontline health workers. Whether you were managing depression and anxiety before the pandemic or are experiencing one or both for the first time, you will find yourself in good company in this class.
Health professionals include doctors, nurses, advanced practice nurses, physician assistants, behavioral health professionals, physical therapists, occupational therapists, pharmacists, healthcare executives, paramedics … and the list goes on. If you work in healthcare, you are included in this list.

MBCT is an evidenced-based therapy that is effective for:

  • Reducing recurrent episodes of depression
  • Treating active depression
  • Improving the management of anxiety
